Tenacious, Invincible, Brave {Custom Photo Session at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD}

Being attacked by a swarm of mosquitos, walking the completely empty US Naval Academy campus and finding the one sailor who was not at the football game....

It was a fun session full of new memories for me and the 3 sisters I photographed.

Dressed to kill - these beautiful ladies had their wardrobe stunningly coordinated - gorgeous!

You may remember one of them - I photographed Rachel a few weeks back in National Harbor for her Senior Portraits. Find the post here.

Navy blue is starting to really grow on me. Their mom had picked out the location (OMG so excited to shoot at the Naval Academy in Annapolis) and coordinated the wonderful wardrobe for them - it was a huge success.

We did find the one sailor who was not at the football game (Navy vs. Rutgers) that was going on that afternoon...so of course we had to ask if he was willing to be in a picture. Not a bad looking guy...the girls' giggles confirmed it ;) I did take photos of a sailor in uniform before (at a homecoming) but this was definitely a fun moment that I will remember.

These two look like they are coming straight out of a magazine or clothing catalog. Lovely location with the navy sailboats as a backdrop.

Cropping Guide for your printed images {Tips and Tricks to better photos by Fotos by Nadine}

You have probably ordered or printed an 8x10 before and wondered 'why does it look so different from the original image?'

The answer is: the crop ratio changes with each photo size.

This means that a 5x7 image will look different than an 8x10 - there will be a slight crop on two sides (top and bottom for portrait orientation and left and right for landscape orientation) of the image.

Sometimes it is hard to explain this so I decided to give you a visual tool to understand this better. It will help you when you get prints done at any time.

To visualize this you can use the graphic below as a reference. This chart compares a 5x7 print as the original cropping ratio to the rest of the sizes and showcases how cropping would occur.

When you order from me I will manually crop for you to ensure that cropping does not alter with the image's original composition and I will also let you know if an image is not suitable for a certain print size/ratio.

However when you order prints from a website or a print store you need to be aware that cropping may just occur in a different place than what you had envisioned. Please contact me if you have any questions about crop ratio.

Sunny Family Picnic Themed Session {Waldorf MD Family Photographer}

It's always so exciting to meet new clients and photograph them for the first time - getting to know who they are and what connects them, seeing their love for each other and cuddling with their babies.

Wan and Ryan love Old Town - and even though their home is in Southern MD - we of course held their family session in the heart of Old Town - in the park of the beautiful Carlysle House.

What a crazy coincidence that their session date - carefully picked in September so that the chances for a little bit of a cooler day were higher - ended up being the hottest and most humid day of the entire summer of 2014.

All 3 of them - especially their 5 month old little baby girl - were not impressed by that at all and were being complete pros in front of my lens - such a blast to photograph!

We worked the weeks before their session to get it all perfect - from mom's make up (done by the amazing Bridgette of Bridgette Chavis Make up Artistry) to the pretty setup with the picnic blanket and basket - it came out wonderful and the beautiful evening light did the rest.

Please enjoy this little preview to hold you over until your big session premiere!

Kids Lunch Ideas - Free Printable/Download {Waldorf, MD Family Photographer}

When school started about 2 weeks ago here in Maryland I was dedicated to make this year more organized and easy for my kids and my family.

I was extremely excited when I found our new lunch boxes and the containers to fill them with - and as hesitant as I was at first to purchase new ones - I am so happy I did - they have made our lives much easier.

See below for the details on them. I got them at Target (but I saw them on Amazon.com as well - Lunchblox by Rubbermaid).

Well, as easy as the bags and containers were to use...I still had to come up with new lunch ideas that will 1. fit in them 2. my kids like 3. are easy to unpack and quick to eat.

So I created a sheet with all things that I could use and printed it out.

It's hung up in my kitchen so I can go ahead and mix and match stuff each morning while packing their bags. It's a great help for your weekly shopping list as well.

FREEBIE - I love it so much that I made it available for you to download and use as well. All you need to do is print it, fill in your lunch ideas and hang it up in your kitchen (I like to hang these up inside a cabinet so that they don't clutter up the kitchen) - find the download at the end of this post.

Kids Lunchboxes and Lunch Ideas

Kids Lunchboxes and Lunch Ideas

The stand up which was important to me - my kids throw them around and don't care if the containers end up sideways inside...with these everything stays the right way up - no risk of any leaks.

The containers stack and interlock - genius!

Here is what goes inside now: These containers come in different shapes and sizes but they all interlock...even the reusable icepacks do! It's so genius - nothing is just flying around on the loose within the lunchbox! It saves a ton of space as well.

Here is the finished product - all is neatly stacked and locked and stays cool.

Finished lunchbox - neat and clean, cool and light! Love it! On the left outside pocket I put their water bottle and in the one on the right goes their thermos container with warm food - DONE!
